While Season 3 of Downton Abbey premiered on Sunday, September 16, in the United Kingdom, we have to wait until January 2013 for it to cross the pond. However, we couldn’t help ourselves… We had to get a peek at the lavish and much-anticipated wedding of Lady Mary and Matthew Crawley!

In a demur shift dress that floated down the infamous staircase, Lady Mary’s wedding-day look was completed with an antique embroidered chapel train veil and an heirloom tiara designed by royal jewelers Bentley & Skinner. Downton’s Emmy award-winnning design team has outdone themselves.

Sydney based astrologer Anita Chakra Burtty is planning a wedding though she’s missing the main ingredient: the groom! Convinced that the stars will align in October or November to bring her a future husband, Anita has gone ahead and bought a dress and made appointments with wedding vendors to prepare. Anita has even set her sights on a beachside barbecue for the reception and has invited friends from England to travel to Australia for the big day. Anita’s friends support her predication, and one even changed his wedding plans to accommodate hers. He said, “We were just planning dates at the time so you know, I wouldn’t be a good friend to Anita unless I believed in her and supported her.”

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of someone planning a wedding before getting engaged, it even happened once or twice on Say Yes to the Dress, but Anita could be gearing up for disappointment if the cosmos don’t deliver. Even Anita hopes that her future husband won’t mind that she’s “a tiny bit insane.” Since I don’t have a crystal ball, only the future can tell whether the future brings what she hopes for or that she at least finds a great resale price on the gown!

Claire Miller was serving as a flower girl when she got tuckered out mid-ceremony, and laid down for a nap just as the priest was about to present the bride and groom. Let’s just hope she’s not a snorer. Usually, guests start to get drowsy AFTER a few hours of the open bar at the reception! Luckily, this sleeping beauty’s parents were nearby to to scoop her up, and hopefully she was able to resume her nap in peace. It looks like the bride and groom were unaware that this nap was going on during the ceremony, but now that the video has gone viral it’s likely that the cat is out of the bag that their flower girl was laying down on the job!

This flower girl’s antics demonstrate that you can’t plan for everything at your wedding. While the adrenaline might be pumping for the bride and groom, it’s important to remember that the rest of the wedding party, especially the littlest members, might not have the same stamina.

Here are a few tips for preparing children to be in your wedding:

Take a load off their feet. Flower girls and ring bearers are sometimes as young as three- or four-years-old and so are likely to fidget during the ceremony. Instead of keeping your flower girls and ring bearers in the limelight throughout the ceremony, consider providing a seating option for them off to the side with a quiet activity to keep their hands and minds busy.

Choose comfortable outfits. While your adult attendants might be able to stick it out for a half hour in heels that pinch, kids have a lower tolerance and less restraint. Choose breathable fabrics and make sure shoes and sashes fit and are comfortable for an extended period of time. Don’t underestimate the importance of breaking in shoes either.

Make sure they nap beforehand. While this might not always be feasible depending on the age and sleep schedule of the child, it’s important to take them to a quiet area to lay down for at least a few minutes away from all of the excitement. It’s easy to overlook this small detail especially if the child’s parents are involved in the wedding. This will be especially helpful if you are planning on having an evening wedding because kids will fade fast!

Wearing an ivory silk mermaid Vera Wang gown and a romantic lace veil, Ashley Biden, a social worker and daughter of vice president Joe Biden, married Philadelphia surgeon Dr. Howard David Krein at the same Delaware church where she was baptized, the Associated Press reports.

After the ceremony at Greenville’s St. Joseph on the Brandywine Roman Catholic Church, the couple and an approximate 200 close friends and family gathered for a cozy reception at the Biden’s lakeside family home in Wilmington. According to People, guests enjoyed a backyard family-style dinner, which was prepared by the vice president himself!

The couple was introduced in 2010 by Ashley’s older brother, and got engaged on a cliff (at sunset!) in California’s Big Sur last October.

“We’re happy to welcome Howard into our family, and we wish them all the best in their new life together,” Joe and wife Dr. Jill Biden, said in a statement released by the vice president’s office.

As for the honeymoon, a family source tells People that Howard, 45, will surprise Ashley, 30, with their destination — we can’t wait to see where he’ll take her!
