1. A clear vision: Decide what kind of wedding you want to have — will it be in the country, the city, at the beach? Once you figure that out, you can start dress shopping and planning.

2. A dress you’re totally in love with: Remember that your opinion is the only one that matters when it comes to what you are going to wear.

3. A train: It adds wonder and a sense of drama.

4. Some texture: I have a great appreciation for texture — lace or embroidery — in a wedding gown. It always looks fantastic in photographs.

5. A veil: I love this very traditional bridal accessory. It also gives your father something to do.

6. A signature scent: Scent has a very powerful connection to memory. The fragrance you wear for your wedding will be an extraordinary reminder of that day.

7. Stephanotis: It’s sometimes called the “bridal veil” flower, and it has the most romantic smell.

8. “Something Blue“: It’s a custom worth keeping. I’ve always sewn a little blue ribbon inside my wedding dresses for good luck.

9. A confident walk: On your wedding day and always.

10. A great romance: What’s more divine than being madly in love?

Ok so it was more like an interview and it might have happened in a private room in Bloomingdales and not over a romantic candlelit dinner but still I sat down with the great Mr. de la Renta and we locked eyes and had a deep and thought-provoking conversation. Besides the dress what else can a bride wear to make her feel special on her wedding day?

“A wedding is such a special day and your fragrance, like Something Blue, can commemorate that day and very special moment. And I think that special moment should happen on a regular basis. This is something that you not only wear on the day of your wedding but something you can wear forever afterwards.”

What can a bride do to make her wedding memorable?

“There are so many ways to make a wedding memorable but the best is to be madly in the love with the guy you are marrying. That will make it memorable!”

What’s your favorite styling secret you like to share with brides?

“The best styling secret is don’t doubt yourself’!”

If you’re going for a formal look on your wedding day, look to Allison and Jamie for all their secrets on nailing a classic day-of style.

Allison’s style secret: Pay attention to accessories. As a fashion-forward bride (she works at Rue La La), Allison knew to focus on the extra touches. To amp up her satin Oscar de la Renta gown, she added a pearl and rhinestone belt. On her wrist, she wore a statement bow bracelet and finished the look with a feather and rhinestone flower on her birdcage veil.

Rather than the usual red carpet that we typically critique the “best” of the biz on, the 2012 Billboard Music Awards honored artists such as Taylor Swift, Wiz Khalifa, Katy Perry, and Justin Bieber last night. But the big winners of the night included Adele and LMFAO. British sensation, Adele, wrapped up the evening with 12 trophies — she won for both Top Artist and Top Billboard 200 Album, just to name a few. Way to go, Adele!

LMFAO claimed prizes for multiple smash-hits, and also for Top Duo/Group. Our favorite standouts in the fashion category? Carrie Underwood in Oscar de la Renta, Katy Perry in Blumarine and Misaki, and Julianne Hough in Kaufman Franco and Nicholas Kirkwood. We can’t get enough of those subdued hues and pastels!
