The editors of The Knot & The Blush have been going behind the scenes of New York Fashion Week.

From the elegant high buns we saw on the models of Dennis Basso at the St. Regis Hotel, to the sweet ponytails at Alice + Olivia and the looped chignons at Naeem Khan, these are all sophisticated styles with bridal potential.

The bun can be re-created with our beloved sock bun tutorial and finish the look by wrapping excess hair around the base of the bun.

Want the sleek style of the Alice + Olivia ladies? I got to chat with lead hairstylist Benjamin Mohapi backstage and he gave me the scoop on the lovely look. The 1950s, deliberate “two days later” hair was created with L’Oreal Texture Expert Lift Extreme hairspray ($15, Sleekhair.com).

At Naeem Khan, Neal Moodie for Bumble and bumble described his look for the girls. This power chic style was made by blowing drying the hair with a flat brush to get smoothness without volume (like you would with a round brush). With a sharp center part, he sprayed the hair with Bumble and bumble Prep Spray ($20, Sephora.com) and finished with Bumble and bumble Shine Spray ($26, Sephora.com) to get rid of fly-aways. To get the loop, he used an elastic band to hold the ponytail and wrapped the leftover hair around the base.
