Even though Summer and Brandon’s wedding venue (the Blanton Museum of Art in Austin, TX) had built in style, the couple brought their own artistic vision to the space and had a colorful, creative wedding. The high school sweethearts initially wanted a rainbow wedding to represent their love of color, but narrowed it down to their favorites instead: aquamarine, peach and neon yellow and kept the look modern with a minimal tablescape and hints of chevron print. Aside from the amazingly fresh color palette, my absolute favorite part of the whole wedding has to be the two adorable flower girls and their darling flower crowns and sparkly Toms shoes. Cute overload!

A black, white and yellow color palette contributed to this couple’s modern wedding aesthetic. The outdoor ceremony site at The Parker was decorated with bright pomanders and yellow and white petals which were sprinkled along the aisle. For their West Hollywood wedding, Dana and Aaron didn’t want the traditional details. Instead they went for a cocktail party reception with lots of modern white details, funky vases and a bright color palette of orange and gray. But my favorite part has got to be the couple’s effortless fashion style. His black suit and skinny tie and her fit-to-flare Vera Wang wedding dress with a bold black sash are the perfect combo for a chic cocktail wedding. Take a look!

The world of wedding photos is no doubt filled with pretty pink peonies, rustic wooden tables and lots of shabby chic reception ideas. But what I love about this wedding is how clean and modern it is. Jen and Joseph started with an ultra-modern venue (the new Kauffman Center in Kansas City, Missouri) and let it drive their style decisions. The ultra sleek color palette of white, cream and soft gray just allowed all of the fun personalized details — like the milk and cookie shooters and the decked-out candy bar — stand out.

Choosing a theme can be an incredibly inspiring and easy way to pull off a wedding with a cohesive look and feel. So with a mod ’60s supper club theme in mind, Ryan and Graham chose a bright color palette of white, orange and gray. From there, all the details — like sequins bridesmaid dresses and graphic invites — just fell into place.

For this early October wedding at Kunde Winery in Sonoma, Alison Hotchkiss, founder of Alison Event Planning and Design, chose a bright yellow Ikat print for a graphic pattern that really popped. The modern menu card tied in the vibrant yellow and added a hint of orange. To keep the look casual and fit in with the rustic elegance of the venue, Alison opted for using just runners instead of full table cloths. Bright ranunculuses, craspedia (billy balls), and tulips in modern white pottery and gray napkins added polish to this relaxed look. You can find similar geometric and ikat design table runners at Four Bugs In A Rug‘s Etsy shop or a pretty chevron version at Williams-Sonoma.

Mary describes her wedding day look as “punk rock Audrey Hepburn.” She designed the dress herself and had it custom-made by Monaco Couture. It was fairly simple (and tea-length in the front) but was fun and edgy in the back with a big black-and-white bow.

For a softer look in her bouquet, Mary carried hot pink peonies, dahlias and roses wrapped in a black-and-white ribbon.

For a fun take on the bridesmaid looks, the girls chose their own outfits, down the their tights and shoes. Feeling inspired by a Vogue fashion spread, she wanted her girls to express their individual fun styles. The look came together seamlessly. See the entire wedding here!

Looking for some modern wedding inspiration? Lauren and Josh nailed the modern style while still drawing out some old-world details.

From day-one Lauren was looking for a dress that had a Mad Men and old-Hollywood feel to it. She knew she wanted a sleek silhouette and the silk Palazzo gown fit the bill. For an extra-special touch, a seamstress added lace to the bottom and her mom made a delicate veil to match the chic day-of look.
