Everyone talks about how stressful wedding planning can be and the top topics tend to include guest list dilemmas, budgeting and even drama with mom. But registering can prove stressful too! In fact, 3/4 of brides-to-be find the process overwhelming. You would think that registering would be fun because it’s kind of like the ultimate shopping spree, but when you actually are standing in the store with a scanner in your hand, you realize there’s a lot to think about. That’s why we partnered with Corelle this month for National Wedding Registry Month to assist brides with the process. And we put together a few tips to registering….

1. Start early
We recommend starting your registry six months in advance so that friends and family can buy the gifts you really want for engagement parties, showers and the wedding!

2. Create a plan
Discuss and decide the items you and your fiance really want for your home before starting the process. Note what you already have since you’ll likely be consolidating your items.

3. Think quality
Do your research to ensure you are registering for long-lasting, durable products. The new Boutique by Corelle dinnerware collection comes in two embossed designs, Cherish (featured above) and Swept, which are simple but sophisticated. More importantly, the line is break resistant, microwaveable and dishwasher safe — on top of being stylish!

4. Don’t forget the necessities
It might seem boring, but you’re going to need daily kitchen tools beyond the more popular mixers and blenders. Consider registering for brands like Corelle, Pyrex and CorningWare which are reliable, long-lasting brands. Don’t overlook the obvious basics you’ll need!

5. Have fun!
Enjoy the process! While traditional registries are most popular (93% of couples register at national/regional retailers), honeymoon registries continue to grow in popularity, up to 13% in 2012 compared to 11% in 2010. If you have all the household essentials you need, consider this as an alternative. Some of the more popular ones are Honeyfund, Traveler’s Joy and Honeymoon wishes. Charity registries are another great consideration.

Rachel and Jeff met at Camp Tanuga in Kalkaska, Michigan in 1999 and, 13 years later, they exchanged vows at the same campground. It doesn’t get any cuter than that! Ivory and lavender accents, mercury glass, candles, wooden signs, and, appropriately enough, a tent enhanced the natural elements of the campground. This couple’s love story and the setting for their wedding is truly straight out of Moonrise Kingdom. Ostrich feathers add a Gatsby-elegance to this Ohio wedding. The couple had a traditional ceremony followed by a reception at the Hilton Netherland which Corey loved because it reminded her of the 1920s with its beautiful art deco architecture. A gold, white and champagne color palette, along with the feather details, created the feel of this glamorous affair. Check out the photos and get transported to the ’20s.

If your wedding has any sort of outdoor element (we’re talking cocktails on the terrace, ceremony on the lawn), you’re probably most definitely going to find yourself obsessing over the weather. The reality is that you probably won’t be able to get an accurate wedding day weather prediction until 10 days out — but that doesn’t mean you can’t prep for wedding day weather stalking!

So to save you the time of downloading multiple weather apps, we put five of the most-downloaded talked-about weather apps to the test and gave and gave them scores on the wedding-worthy scale best out of 5. Here’s how they stacked up!

1. Yahoo! Weather App (4.5 out of 5)

What We Love: Yahoo’s new weather app has by far the slickest, coolest design among weather apps available. For starters, it’s pretty. There are no advertisements. The background pulls in images from Flickr for a total departure from the assumed weather apps available. It’s also super simple. Slide from one city to the next (similar to Apple’s weather app) and scroll down to see all the details (hour-by-hour forecast, sunset, wind conditions) on your particular city.

What We Could Do Without: There’s one slight issue. If you want to keep an eye on the weather, say 10 days out, you can’t. It only pulls up to 5 days worth of weather forecasts (which is probably because 10-day forecasts are hard if not impossible to predict).

2. Dark Sky Weather Radar and Storm Alert App (4 out of 5)

What we Love: This app has serious attitude. Giant easy-to-read font size badges at the top of the app tell you exactly what you want to know about the day.The graph wobbles when the forecast is uncertain. Large easy to read font. Simple design makes it feel more to the point rather than cluttered with weather man speak. Notify me alert system (beta) when it’s going to rain or snow.

What We Could Do Without: So maybe it’s a little too simple for wedding planning — the display is slick but it’s missing the all-important extended day forecast. You won’t find out the weather very far in advance but you’ll get a very accurate prediction. This app tells you exactly when it will rain or snow up to an hour in advance which still gives you time to go with your wedding day “rain plan”. It also uses radar animation to display the path of storms nearby.

3. WeatherBug App (4.5 out of 5)

What We Love: It’s self-described as the most accurate advanced early warning system weather app (great if you’re worried about rain coming your way on the day). The lifestyle forecast feature also personally advises you on how to proceed with plans which helps answer questions like: Should I bring my outdoor wedding indoors?

What We Could Do Without: There are so many features and pieces to this app that it’s a little TMI and at times, too cluttered.

This wedding was set to take place outside in the garden at Greenacres Art Center, but like most weddings, not everything went as planned. The weather was threatening so the couple took the ceremony inside but recreated a garden aesthetic with lush vines and flowers adorning the alter and shephard hooks with hanging flowers lining the aisle. Orange, plum, and ivory touches wove all the details together. Check out the photos– and don’t miss the customized cake toppers which resemble the couple and their cats!

A black, white and yellow color palette contributed to this couple’s modern wedding aesthetic. The outdoor ceremony site at The Parker was decorated with bright pomanders and yellow and white petals which were sprinkled along the aisle.
