When This Couple’s Venue Canceled Their Wedding, an Amazing Thing Happened…

When the modern Brooklyn, NY wedding venue reBar suddenly closed in May, many couples were left venue-less and out a large sum of money. They didn’t know where to turn, so we created a Facebook page where they could vent their frustration and share stories. Fortunately, a few local vendors caught wind of the situation and decided to throw one couple a donation-based wedding at the chic Manhattan venue 404NYC. Together,  Little Red Bean Productions, TheKnot.com and 15 other vendors helped Eric and Ashleigh go from having no venue and no budget to being thrown the celebration they always wanted — in just over a month!

The bride’s color scheme was sunny yellow and green, a perfect fit for the giveaway initiative titled  “Lemons to Lemonade” (CEO and Lead Planner at Little Red Bean, Russell Pinto Jr’s play on making the best of a bad situation and turning something sour into something sweet). Bright yellow ranunculus and roses provided by Lindsay Rae Design, pink limoncello favors (by LiDestri) and a few other cheery touches made the new venue the perfect place to celebrate with friends and family. Delicious appetizers and small plates were provided by Franco Vitella Catered Affairs and the bar was stocked with craft cocktails by Deep Eddy Vodka, Warwick Gin, Dutch Kills Beer Project, Magnifico and AriZona Beverages USA. The bride had her hair (given by Yves Durif) and makeup (donated by Highbrow Artistry) done for the day — a complement to her gorgeous Liancarlo halter dress.

In spite of the initial setback, the couple couldn’t have pictured a better wedding day. “Winning this wedding has put my faith back into strangers. We couldn’t be more thrilled and honored to be the lucky recipients,” Ashleigh says. “Afterward, people kept referring to our wedding as the most fun ‘party’ they had ever been to. The actual wedding day was far better than what reBar could have given us.”

Other professionals who contributed to the event include: Eclipse Events, Amanda Stevens Photography, second shooter Manuel Montenegro-Lee, The Tribute String Trio & The Baby Soda Jazz Band of Lucy Music NY, VerTerra dinnerware, Le Image, The Dessert Ladies, AVJ Limousines and MagBooth.
