Sneak a Peek of Jessa Duggar’s Engagement Ring and Proposal Story (Watch!)

When Ben Seewald proposed to 19 Kids and Counting star Jessa Duggar on August 15, it looks like he didn’t want to make it too easy, since he created a scavenger hunt that ended with a proposal at the Thorncrown Chapel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

“I’ve been planning this day for several months,” Ben said in a TLC video. “Just talking to people, getting ideas and thinking about… Trying to be creative. Like, ‘How can I make this a day to remember?'”

Jessa had no idea what to expect and said, “With every clue, I was really excited, but I was also nervous the whole time. I was like, ‘I don’t know where he is. He could show up at any point. He’s probably behind me right now on his knees.'”

In the video, Jessa lifts her left hand up enough so that we can catch a glimpse of her engagement ring, and it looks like it’s a solitaire diamond set on a gold band!

On August 18, she also posted an Instagram photo of the ring’s band (show us the bling, Jessa!) and wrote, “Y’all! I still can’t believe it! I’M ENGAGED TO THE MOST AMAZING GUY ON EARTH! Every time I look down at the ring on my finger…it takes my breath away! I love you, @ben_seewald!”

She also posted a sneak peek of their engagement photo shoot and wrote, “Time for some engagement photos!”

Now that is one gorgeous ring! It’s simple and a classic and I think it really suits Jessa to a T. A scavenger hunt sounds like a very fun way to propose, so kudos to Ben for the effort. I’m a huge fan of 19 Kids and Counting and of Jessa, so this is such happy news.

Escort cards are extremely easy to personalize and an excellent way to bring in your wedding day colors -- from calligraphed seating cards set atop a textured linen to apples tagged with each guest's name or small personalized bundles of lavender tied off with string. Other ways to display escort cards: Pin them to a clothesline, post them on a board covered in color-coordinated ribbon, or incorporate them into your cocktail hour using personalized stirrers tagged with guests' names.
