‘Cake Boss’ Proposal Involves — What Else? — an Adorable Cupcake

Cake Boss Proposal: Carlos Bakery / TheKnot.com Carlos Bakery

Cake Boss star and owner of Carlo’s Bakery, Buddy Valastro, has seen a few proposals happen at his shop — but none have involved a princess and a frog, so to speak.

At his Cake Factory in Jersey City, New Jersey, last week, a groom-to-be proposed to his girlfriend using a unique cupcake that Buddy and his team crafted.

“The bride is a huge fan of frogs, so her fiancé asked us to sculpt a frog prince that could hold the engagement ring in its mouth,” Buddy told People. The frog, made out of modeling chocolate, held a gorgeous square-cut diamond ring in its mouth, while sitting atop a mound of vanilla buttercream. A yellow crown and red lips completed the cute look.

“She was taking a class [at the Cake Factory], and we set it up for them to meet in my office,” Buddy says. “That’s when I gave her the box with the cupcake inside, and when she opened it her fiancé got down on one knee and proposed.”

Buddy also posted a picture of the proposal to the Carlo’s Bakery’s Instagram and wrote, “Talk about a #sweetsurprise! This couple got engaged at the Cake Factory this morning!! Congratulations to the happy couple!”

Escort cards are extremely easy to personalize and an excellent way to bring in your wedding day colors -- from calligraphed seating cards set atop a textured linen to apples tagged with each guest's name or small personalized bundles of lavender tied off with string. Other ways to display escort cards: Pin them to a clothesline, post them on a board covered in color-coordinated ribbon, or incorporate them into your cocktail hour using personalized stirrers tagged with guests' names.
