Want to Get Married Today in NYC? ‘Modern Family’ Will Cover the Cost!

Modern Family: ABC / TheKnot.com ABC

Since Cam and Mitchell are getting married on Modern Family‘s fifth season’s penultimate episode on Wednesday (YAY!), there’s no better way to get fans excited than by having ABCModern Family‘s network, foot the bill for their wedding!

ABC announced on Good Morning America today that it will cover the cost of a marriage license and ceremony for any couple getting married today, May 12, at the New York City Clerk’s office (141 Worth Street, New York, NY 10013) from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. EST.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet, who play Mitchell and Cam, appeared on GMA to make the fun announcement and promote the upcoming wedding episode.

“It’s a rare opportunity you get as actors,” Eric says. “You never think of that when you’re out there auditioning for different parts in TV shows and not getting them, and then to finally get a gig like this that is really, truly — not to put too much importance on it, but owning it a little bit — having social impact, cultural impact. We hear it from kids, we hear that from parents, so we know it’s real.”

Escort cards are extremely easy to personalize and an excellent way to bring in your wedding day colors -- from calligraphed seating cards set atop a textured linen to apples tagged with each guest's name or small personalized bundles of lavender tied off with string. Other ways to display escort cards: Pin them to a clothesline, post them on a board covered in color-coordinated ribbon, or incorporate them into your cocktail hour using personalized stirrers tagged with guests' names.
