Ear Cuffs, Wire Necklaces + 8 More Daring Wedding Ideas

Just because the majority go classic on their wedding day doesn’t mean you have to. In fact, a large handful wedding dress and accessory designers created some seriously daring looks at this past season’s bridal fashion week. Below a few of our favorites (plus how to actually pull them off!).

1. Oversized Bows

The Gaga-esque bow at Watters might be a tad big for your wedding, but if you love the look try this similar (smaller) option from White by Vera Wang.

2. Ear Cuffs

The ear cuff we spotted at Naeem Khan proves that dainty pearls aren't the only way to go. We found an affordable option that still looks bridal at Bauble Bar.

Shop It Here: Winged Crystal Ear Cuff, $32.00, BaubleBar.com

3. Dark Eye Makeup

Everything at Vera Wang Bridal was dark -- including the models' very dark, wet eye (think '90s Kate Moss). To get the rocker vibe, try a smoky eye kit with mascara, dark shadow and thick liner.

Shop It Here: Ardency Inn Punker Smoky Eye Kit, $39.00, Sephora.com

4. Wire Bib Necklaces

The necklaces at the Angel Shanchez show took center stage. Even if you don't go for the full-on wire necklace, there are similar more-doable options like this one from BHLDN.

Shop It Here: Starry Vine Necklace, $140.00, BHLDN.com

5. Oversized Flower Crowns

Flower crowns aren't exactly a new trend but oversized flower headpieces like the ones we saw at Ines Di Santo are a fun new twist. Go all-out or try a smaller version of the runway trend at Stone Fox Bride.

Shop It Here: La Paola Deluxe Fresh Floral Halo, $398, StoneFoxBride.com

6. Glittery Gold Lips

The models at Naeem Khan went for a more sultry makeup look with dark red lip and a little bit of gold glitter in the middle. Try a red gloss that has bits of gold glitter in it.

Shop It Here: Sephora Collection Ultra Shine Lip Gloss in Golden Scarlett, $14.00, Sephora.com

7. Fabric Chandelier Earrings

We could not stop staring at rock start earrings on a few of the models at the Carolina Herrera show. We found some really fun fabric hoop earrings at Anthropologie (hint: they can double as your something blue)!

Shop It Here: Tassel Bloom Hoops, $38.00, Anthropologie.com

8. Light Eyebrows

This one isn't going to work unless you have a very light complexion and blond hair -- or at least light eye brows in the first place. But for those of you who do, take note from the models at the Theia runway show. To try the style, use a pearly white or silver pencil and lightly swipe along the brow bone for the same effect.

Shop It Here: Make Up Forever Aqua Shadow in Pearly White, $20.00, Sephora.com

9. Lacy Heels

We couldn't stop staring at the lacy footies on the models at the Marchesa show. An easy and actually rather translatable idea are these lacy Manolos (you only get one big wedding, right?).

Shop It Here: Manolo Blahnik Lace BB Pumps, $695.00, Barneys.com

10. Opulent Gold Necklaces

Stacks on stacks of vintage style necklaces on the models at the Ines Di Santo show were a fun alternative to the typical wedding necklace. Do the same thing without wearing 100 pounds of jewelry with a smaller version.

Shop It Here: Multi-Chain Gold Necklace, $148.00, CharmandChain.com

Escort cards are extremely easy to personalize and an excellent way to bring in your wedding day colors -- from calligraphed seating cards set atop a textured linen to apples tagged with each guest's name or small personalized bundles of lavender tied off with string. Other ways to display escort cards: Pin them to a clothesline, post them on a board covered in color-coordinated ribbon, or incorporate them into your cocktail hour using personalized stirrers tagged with guests' names.
