Red Sox Fans Got Married at Fenway Park (After Meeting on Twitter!)

Red Sox: Cody Anderson / Cody Anderson

Plenty of Boston Red Sox fans have gotten married at Fenway Park — but how many can say they met on Twitter because of a Sox-related tweet? In 2011, the Sox tweeted a birthday message to fan Shannon Armitage, and another fan, Cody Anderson, took notice. He tweeted at Shannon and said, “@Esenay24 might be the most beautiful and positive #RedSox fan out there! Tweets always seem refreshing!”

We’re glad that Cody tweeted such a cute message, because the two began a relationship shortly after and they decided to get married at Fenway Park, since the team was responsible for their meeting and Cody’s late father was a huge Red Sox fan (despite his family living in Illinois).

Shannon and Cody’s wedding was on Friday before the team’s season opener and they live-tweeted their whole day with pictures — and both wore jerseys!

Your information is incorrect. Shannon’s father is still alive. Cody’s father passed away and was the reason that Cody became a Red Sox fan even though he is from Illinois.

Escort cards are extremely easy to personalize and an excellent way to bring in your wedding day colors -- from calligraphed seating cards set atop a textured linen to apples tagged with each guest's name or small personalized bundles of lavender tied off with string. Other ways to display escort cards: Pin them to a clothesline, post them on a board covered in color-coordinated ribbon, or incorporate them into your cocktail hour using personalized stirrers tagged with guests' names.
