See the Mother’s Wedding Dress From the “How I Met Your Mother” Finale (and Get the Look!)

Not everyone has seen the heartfelt series finale of How I Met Your Mother last night (so beware of any spoilers ahead), but it did involve Tracy (The Mother, played by Cristin Milioti) and Ted’s beautiful and sweet wedding ceremony — and a gorgeous vintage wedding dress.

Reiko Kurumada, HIMYM‘s stylist, told E! that Tracy’s simple but elegant wedding dress was inspired by Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s famous wedding gown.

“Since the wedding takes place in the future years from now, I wanted the dress to be age appropriate for Cristin (The Mother),” Reiko said to E! “When I suggested the overall look to be very simple with a little vintage feel, a la Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, [creators] Carter Bays and Craig Thomas agreed completely. We found a gorgeous simple gown in the vintage section of a costume house… The dress fit her perfectly. No alterations needed at all. It was meant to be!”

The dress made Cristin Milioti look pregnant. And I would hope that 8 or 10 years from now (or whenever the wedding was set), the silly strapless gown trend will have run its course.

Escort cards are extremely easy to personalize and an excellent way to bring in your wedding day colors -- from calligraphed seating cards set atop a textured linen to apples tagged with each guest's name or small personalized bundles of lavender tied off with string. Other ways to display escort cards: Pin them to a clothesline, post them on a board covered in color-coordinated ribbon, or incorporate them into your cocktail hour using personalized stirrers tagged with guests' names.
