5 Books About Weddings For Every Bride

One of those things that no one tells you about getting engaged is that all of a sudden you become really in tune to anything having to do with weddings. Even bad wedding TV shows that you never would have watched before, become at least mildy interesting. We’re here to feed that affinity. These books are all really fun reads that still having a little bit of a wedding twist

If you like anything funny…Save the Date by Jen Doll

Jen Doll is probably one of the funniest people on Twitter (follow her here). This is her first book and the entire thing is written in first person — all about her adventures as a serial wedding guest. The stories and her voice make the book. (Can you tell we love it)

If You Like Romance Novels…Vision in White by Nora Roberts

This is actually one of a four book series (or as it’s marketed, the “Bride Quartet” series). Emma, Laurel, Mackensie, and Parker are four childhood friends who own a wedding company together called Vows. Each woman has her own specialty (one is good at cakes another really knows her flowers). The book follows Mackensie, the photographer, as she has some deals with some serious family issues. She also meets a guy who she assumes will be a casual fling, but he ends up becoming a lot more than that.

If you like glitz and glamour…Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns by Lauren Weisberger

Even if you didn’t read the first book, you definitely saw the movie (and if you’re anything like us, you’ve seen it about 10 million times). In this sequel to The Devil Wears Prada, Andy and her former co-assistant, Emily, founded a bridal magazine and are working together again 10 years after their stints at Runway. Andy has a new guy, who happens to be a part of a famous family, so all eyes will be on them when they get married. In the book, Miranda meets with Andy and Emily to talk about acquiring their bridal mag, and while Andy is freaking out because of the way she left things last time, the meeting definitely doesn’t turn out how she expected.

If You Like Mystery Novels…The Bride Wore Size 12 by Meg Cabot

This one is like a fun Nancy Drew book with a wedding twist. By the author of The Princess Diaries, this one is about a former pop music star, Heather Wells,  who is planning her wedding while also trying to solve a mystery in the residence hall she works in. You’ll get lost in the mystery, but you’ll also be able to commiserate with Heather as she plans her wedding and deals with some less-than-helpful bridesmaids.

If you like books about family…The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks

In this follow-up to The Notebook Wilson Lewis realizes that there’s no spark left in his 30-year relationship with his Jane. She’s fallen out of love with him, but he wants to get her back. He looks to his in-laws Noah and Allie Calhoun’s loving relationship for inspiration. He uses their memories to find ways to make his wife fall in love with him again and they start to fix their relationship while trying to plan a big wedding for their oldest daughter. It’s a New York Times best-seller and worth the read.

Thanks, Sophie! The Bride Quartet is really amazing. If you’re looking for any other fun wedding books to read, we also recommend “Wedding Night” by Sophie Kinsella.

Escort cards are extremely easy to personalize and an excellent way to bring in your wedding day colors -- from calligraphed seating cards set atop a textured linen to apples tagged with each guest's name or small personalized bundles of lavender tied off with string. Other ways to display escort cards: Pin them to a clothesline, post them on a board covered in color-coordinated ribbon, or incorporate them into your cocktail hour using personalized stirrers tagged with guests' names.
