Pippa Middleton Jokes About Her Backside At The Royal Wedding

The two most well-documented things about Prince William and Kate Middleton’s royal wedding were Kate and Pippa Middleton’s custom-made Alexander McQueen by Sarah Burton gowns — and Pippa’s backside in her bridesmaid’s dress. Now, nearly three years after the April 29, 2011 wedding, the usually-private Pippa publicly spoke out for the first time about how she almost stole the show. Yesterday, Pippa was a speaker at the Women in Advertising and Communications dinner in London and joked about how her curvy posterior found her fame.

“As I have found out, recognition has its upside, its downside and — you may say — its backside,” Pippa said to 400 attendees. The Duchess of Cambridge’s younger sister remarked that she was “glad [the dress] fitted” on the day of the wedding. Pippa also added, “In retrospect, it fitted a little too well.”

We think it fit just right! It’s nice to hear her funny thoughts about her dress long after the wedding (and birth of her nephew, Prince George), since she’s served as inspiration for lots of bridesmaid dress choices ever since.

Honestly, I don’t see what the big deal was. I didn’t notice her backside because I was too busy looking at her sister in her beautiful wedding gown. The press made too big a deal out of nothing.

Escort cards are extremely easy to personalize and an excellent way to bring in your wedding day colors -- from calligraphed seating cards set atop a textured linen to apples tagged with each guest's name or small personalized bundles of lavender tied off with string. Other ways to display escort cards: Pin them to a clothesline, post them on a board covered in color-coordinated ribbon, or incorporate them into your cocktail hour using personalized stirrers tagged with guests' names.
