Ranking the Top 10 Most Talked About Celebrity Weddings

Over a decade later, and long after many of the marriages have ended, there are some celebrity weddings that are just ingrained in our memory. They’re the ones that truly set the trends, or were just so different that they still make their way into conversation. Here, your unofficial ranking of the most talked about celebrity weddings.

10. Britney Spears and Kevin Federline (2004)

There’s no denying it. Britney and K-Fed’s wedding was definitely cringe-worthy. It wasn’t entirely their fault though — they had to move up the date to avoid the paparazzi. Despite that, they made some questionable choices, like her super-short and see-through reception dress. And let’s not forget her the fact that she had her bridesmaids get ready in pink velour track suits.

9. Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries (2011)

This wedding answered the age-old question: “Is there ever such a thing as TOO over-the-top?” Yes. Yes there is. And this is the perfect example.

8. Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale (2002)

Oh Gwen. We give her extra points for being a true trendsetter (pretty sure she was the first person to wear an ombre wedding dress). The only problem were all of the themes. From the edgy pink gown to the classic red rose cake, there was just a lot going on.

7. Fergie and Josh Duhamel (2009)

There’s a lot to love about Fergie and Josh Duhamel’s wedding, like her amazing gown, the fact that she was totally ahead of the head chain trend and their CASTLE wedding cake. We could have done without the sexy photo sesh, but to each their own.

6. Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky (2010)

Here’s the thing about Chelsea Clinton’s wedding: It was absolutely lovely, classic and romantic. On the other hand, we weren’t completely blown away either as far as celebrity weddings go. That’s why it’s stuck right in the middle of our list.

5. Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi (2008)

Simple, chic and intimate are the words that come to mind with Ellen and Portia’s wedding. What we love are the truly personalized elements — like that they had their dogs with them at the wedding and that instead of standing during their ceremony, Ellen and Portia actually sat.

4. Lauren Bush and David Lauren (2011)

Homestead elegance never looked so chic. Of course we wouldn’t expect anything less from the son of fashion mogul Ralph Lauren. They somehow managed to make a morning jacket and a high-neck lace wedding dress seem effortless and pull off a wedding style that looked relatively down-to-earth.

3. Sean Parker and Alexandra Lenas (2013)

What can we say? Sean and Alexandra picked a theme and stuck to it — so much so that every one of their guests was outfitted in a costume made by the costume designer from the Lord of the Rings. (Not to mention dinner featured roasted pig on a spit.) We’re still in a bit of disbelief that this happened.

2. Prince William and Kate Middleton (2011)

We know we’re going to get a lot of flak for this (bring it on!), but even though this has to be one of the most beloved wedding of all time, it doesn’t fall on our list as number one (though it’s a very, very close second). Here’s why: It was over-the-top and stunning down to every last detail, but being royal and following a long line of tradition meant that there just wasn’t much room for personalization. If we had to guess, the two would have preferred something a bit more laid-back.

1. Kate Moss and Jamie Hince (2011)

At the very top of our list is style icon Kate Moss’s wedding to rockstar guitarist Jamie Hince. C’mon — you have to agree. Their wedding was English garden-themed, there were flower children with fresh flower crowns, they cut into a traditional white buttercream wedding cake, and she wore a vintage Gatsby-esque wedding dress. Case closed.

There you have it. Agree? Think we’re ridiculously wrong? Tell us below!
