6 New Wedding Ideas You’ll See in 2014

Every year we’re amazed by the creative new ideas that couples come up with to make their wedding day stand out. Last year a wedding arch made of books, animal topiaries and a pickle bar topped our list of most unique wedding ideas, so we have high expectations for 2014! We’ve kept our eye on the hottest wedding trends for you, and brought you a taste of what’s to come.. Make sure to look out for these and more new wedding ideas this year!

1. Living Table Numbers (Like These Ballerinas!)

Table numbers will come to life (literally!) as couples make finding your seat becomes performance art.

2. Suspended Wedding Cakes

Kaley Cuoco’s upside down chandelier wedding cake was a huge hit! Instead of a traditional cake table wedding cakes will float in the air suspended in different creative ways.

3. Multiple Engagement Rings

Celebs like Diane Kruger and Emily Maynard are rocking multiple stacked engagement rings instead of the traditional solo ring and center stone.

4. Prickly Centerpieces

Succulents have been a huge hit in wedding floral design the past few years, but their prickly cousins like these bright and color blocked moon cacti are going to take over.

5. Picnic Style Reception Seating

For the couple looking for a more relaxed and casual vibe they’ll do away with tables and chairs altogether and spread out blankets and baskets for picnic-style seating!

6. Pretty Phone Charging Stations

Flowers and chest of drawers are just the beginning when it comes to ways we’ll see phone charging stations decorated in the coming year.

These are very cool ideas, indeed. I’m wondering how the Bride and Groom cut the suspended cake? :) But it’s absolutely gorgeous. Thought those reading this article might want to check out a new upcoming trend – Mini musicals about the bride and groom performed at their reception. It’s a fun and creative way to bring both sides of the family together. Check out video clips at http://www.youthemusical.com.

They are ok..nothing wowed me. The picnic idea is cute but impractical for weddings that include seniors such as grandparents unless adequate assigned seating is offered to accoomodate all ages and abilities.

Sitting on the ground at a wedding reception? Charging stations for phones at weddings? No and No. If I’m going to dress up, buy you a $100 or more gift, and give up three-four hours of my free time, I’m not going to sit on the ground. And as for a charging station, maybe we should all turn off our cell phones at important personal events like weddings, and just be fully present, mind AND body. And one other thing – I’m not about to eat a cake that’s been swinging in the air picking up dust and small bugs. Ugh.

Escort cards are extremely easy to personalize and an excellent way to bring in your wedding day colors -- from calligraphed seating cards set atop a textured linen to apples tagged with each guest's name or small personalized bundles of lavender tied off with string. Other ways to display escort cards: Pin them to a clothesline, post them on a board covered in color-coordinated ribbon, or incorporate them into your cocktail hour using personalized stirrers tagged with guests' names.
