Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici’s Wedding Invitation

After Sean and Catherine’s quirky save-the-date, their wedding invitation (from Smitten on Paper) seems pretty tame, at least as far as design goes. For the invitation wording the couple went the complete opposite of traditional. Here’s the wording:

Together with their families

Sean Thomas Lowe

Will marry his best friend

Catherine Ligaya Mejia Giudici

Who completely adores him

The evening of Sunday, January 26, 2014

Typically an invitation will contain a variation on the phrases “request the honor of your presence” or “invite you to join their families in celebrating their marriage.” The wording serves as more an announcement than invitation because there’s nothing to let guests know they’re being asked to attend! Another way their wording strays from tradition is that the bride’s name doesn’t appear first.

For the RSVP Sean and Catherine didn’t stick to standard wording either. Instead the options were “Can’t wait,” or “Has something more important to attend than celebrating the union of Sean & Catherine.” We get that it’s meant to be funny (the couple’s known for their sense of humor), but it’s possible that friends and family who can’t attend already feel bad and this might make them feel worse!

We’re not quite sure what to think about this invitation, so tell us what you think in the poll below!

It doesn’t give a time or place, meaning they just want people to send money or girts….they don’t care whether people come or not.

Maybe their friends understand it. Maybe they don’t take life too seriously. Maybe people these days skip the wedding but arrive in time for a free dinner so time is pointless. Maybe they love each other (which is what matters right?) and our opinions aren’t of their concern (nor should it be). Not everyone has to conform to what our society regulates as normal. Happy marriage, wish ya’ll the best!

I’m guessing the time and place aren’t pictured online so that the general public can’t come and stalk their wedding :) That would make sense anyway.

Love their non-trad invitation. And to the poster who commented negatively use your logic why they did not mention the place and time and why those invited have to sign the confidentiality agreement.

Can’t stand it when people say “it’s their wedding, so it’s their choice”. We already know that. But we would still like to discuss it if that’s ok with you. My opinion is that it’s not horrible, but I wouldn’t choose it. I think the response cards are a bit over the top, though.

Escort cards are extremely easy to personalize and an excellent way to bring in your wedding day colors -- from calligraphed seating cards set atop a textured linen to apples tagged with each guest's name or small personalized bundles of lavender tied off with string. Other ways to display escort cards: Pin them to a clothesline, post them on a board covered in color-coordinated ribbon, or incorporate them into your cocktail hour using personalized stirrers tagged with guests' names.
