A Sophisticated Beach Glamour Wedding (Inspired By Mermaids!)

Courtney describes the vision for her Alys Beach, FL destination wedding in a single sentence: “Jacques Cousteau finds a mermaid during a sea exploration and marries her.” Translated during the planning process, this meant elegant nods to the beach, a chic black, white and neutral palette and bridal style inspired by the ’20s and ’40s. The bride walked down the aisle of their ceremony at Alys Beach’s Central Park in a Reem Acra mermaid-style gown with red lips, loose curls and a crystal hairpiece from Kleinfeld Bridal. In place of traditional music and readings the couple chose the Sigur Ros song “Hoppipola” for the processional, and Pablo Neruda’s Sonnet XVIII and a quote from Alain de Botton’s “On Love” for the readings. For the reception decor at Kelly Green, white coral, barnacles and sea urchins were mixed with floating candles and a gorgeous array of white anemones, peonies and leafy Artemisia foliage. See all the sophisticated beach wedding details captured by VUE Photography below and here!

Escort cards are extremely easy to personalize and an excellent way to bring in your wedding day colors -- from calligraphed seating cards set atop a textured linen to apples tagged with each guest's name or small personalized bundles of lavender tied off with string. Other ways to display escort cards: Pin them to a clothesline, post them on a board covered in color-coordinated ribbon, or incorporate them into your cocktail hour using personalized stirrers tagged with guests' names.
