A Sophisticated Beach Glamour Wedding (Inspired By Mermaids!)
Courtney describes the vision for her Alys Beach, FL destination wedding in a single sentence: “Jacques Cousteau finds a mermaid during a sea exploration and marries her.” Translated during the planning process, this meant elegant nods to the beach, a chic black, white and neutral palette and bridal style inspired by the ’20s and ’40s. The bride walked down the aisle of their ceremony at Alys Beach’s Central Park in a Reem Acra mermaid-style gown with red lips, loose curls and a crystal hairpiece from Kleinfeld Bridal. In place of traditional music and readings the couple chose the Sigur Ros song “Hoppipola” for the processional, and Pablo Neruda’s Sonnet XVIII and a quote from Alain de Botton’s “On Love” for the readings. For the reception decor at Kelly Green, white coral, barnacles and sea urchins were mixed with floating candles and a gorgeous array of white anemones, peonies and leafy Artemisia foliage.
