Kim Kardashian Will Change Her Last Name To West

At her 33rd birthday party in Las Vegas, Kim told E! News that she plans on changing her name to Kim Kardashian West.  (Well that answers one one of our burning questions about Kimye!) Amongst all the rumors, this has to be one of the most interesting pieces of news to come from the couple’s recent engagement (we weren’t even phased when Kanye announced their wedding will feature fighter jets). It’s just so unexpected because Kim chose not to change her name when she married Kris Humphries in 2011. And let’s be honest, she’s always been vocal about how much she loves her name.

…not to mention the fact that Kim’s last name is a major part of her image and brand (products like Kim’s fragrance and even the sisters’ boutique Dash both use the name Kardashian). It’s not uncommon for celebrities to change their last names privately, but keep their maiden name publicly for this exact reason — and it’s possible this is what Kim will do too. (Do you see her Sears’ clothing line changing to Kardashian West Kollection any time soon?)

Changing your name after the wedding is not always an easy choice — and there’s been a lot of discussion lately on our Customs and Traditions board. What do you think?

Escort cards are extremely easy to personalize and an excellent way to bring in your wedding day colors -- from calligraphed seating cards set atop a textured linen to apples tagged with each guest's name or small personalized bundles of lavender tied off with string. Other ways to display escort cards: Pin them to a clothesline, post them on a board covered in color-coordinated ribbon, or incorporate them into your cocktail hour using personalized stirrers tagged with guests' names.
