Top Chef’s Wedding Cake Made With Cheez-Its!

Yep, you read that right. Top Chef‘s Season 4 winner Stephanie Izard recently married craft beer consultant Gary Valentine, and the wedding cake — made by the pastry chef at Stefanie’s restaurant in Chicago, Girl and the Goat — was by far the coolest part. Every tier was a little different and totally surprising. One tier was made of chocolate cake filled with chocolate and peanut butter-covered Cheez-Its, while another included strawberry Nesquik with icing made out of chocolate and bacon buttercream. Now that’s a match made in foodie heaven.

The amazing menu didn’t just stop at the cake either. The couple served dishes like wine braised short ribs and rosemary potato gratin. Yum!

Bonus: They also ordered a groom’s cake in the shape of a mini beer cask — a nod to the groom’s profession. Genius!

Just because you’re not a celebrity chef doesn’t mean you can’t get seriously creative with your menu. A few of our favorites? This burnt almond torte, this funfetti wedding cake, and this donut tower cake!

Escort cards are extremely easy to personalize and an excellent way to bring in your wedding day colors -- from calligraphed seating cards set atop a textured linen to apples tagged with each guest's name or small personalized bundles of lavender tied off with string. Other ways to display escort cards: Pin them to a clothesline, post them on a board covered in color-coordinated ribbon, or incorporate them into your cocktail hour using personalized stirrers tagged with guests' names.
