Plan The Proposal And The Wedding On The Same Day? This Groom Did!

While the average engagement is about 14 months, this groom knew his girlfriend wouldn’t want to wait that long, so he planned an engagement that lasted only a few hours. The first surprise happened on the morning of June 7th when Ryan Leak popped the question, “Will you marry me, today?” to his girlfriend Amanda Roman while they were in Miami– he was completely serious.

Ryan’s second surprise was that he’d been secretly planning an entire wedding based on the 224 photos she’d pinned to her “My dream wedding” Pinterest board and he had already invited her family and friends to be there too. The video outlines the whole story of how it all went down, but if you want to skip to the wedding start at the 22 minute mark.

It was definitely a sweet gesture for Ryan to plan a surprise like that, but there’s something to be said about being able to enjoy the engagement period and the wedding planning process, whether it’s picking out a gown with your mom, taking an epic trip with your girlfriends for your bachelorette, or just letting the proposal sink in. It’s not news that brides are using Pinterest to plan their ideal wedding before getting engaged, but that doesn’t mean that’s what they’ll decide on they want when it comes to actual planning. What do you think about ditching the engagement altogether and going straight to the wedding?
