Plan The Proposal And The Wedding On The Same Day? This Groom Did!

While the average engagement is about 14 months, this groom knew his girlfriend wouldn’t want to wait that long, so he planned an engagement that lasted only a few hours. The first surprise happened on the morning of June 7th when Ryan Leak popped the question, “Will you marry me, today?” to his girlfriend Amanda Roman while they were in Miami– he was completely serious.

Ryan’s second surprise was that he’d been secretly planning an entire wedding based on the 224 photos she’d pinned to her “My dream wedding” Pinterest board and he had already invited her family and friends to be there too. The video outlines the whole story of how it all went down, but if you want to skip to the wedding start at the 22 minute mark.

It was definitely a sweet gesture for Ryan to plan a surprise like that, but there’s something to be said about being able to enjoy the engagement period and the wedding planning process, whether it’s picking out a gown with your mom, taking an epic trip with your girlfriends for your bachelorette, or just letting the proposal sink in. It’s not news that brides are using Pinterest to plan their ideal wedding before getting engaged, but that doesn’t mean that’s what they’ll decide on they want when it comes to actual planning. What do you think about ditching the engagement altogether and going straight to the wedding?

I think the groom had great intentions but this just sucks, you don’t get the excitement of choosing anything for your wedding or dreaming about it for months. On the bright side, you do get to skip all the stress too!

b/c as they said, she practically planned the wedding on pinterest…so he followed directions!

He stated in the beginning of the video that he overheard her say that it was HER dream to get engaged and married in the same day so this was perfect for her no matter what anyone else thinks about it lol…he listened to what his woman wanted which is hard to come by and this whole thing was extremely romantic.

This is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, and it wasn’t even about extravagance. It was about the sheer love, thoughtfulness, and consideration that went into it. I love his explanation about waiting to tell her he loved her until he knew he could “back it up with every fiber of his being.” That was beautiful and it showed that not only did he think about the wedding, but he thought deeply about their relationship and about what it really meant to love someone.

The WHOLE entire wedding wasn’t taken off of Pinterest. He actually found her Pinterest 2 months before the wedding. They have been talking about getting married for about a year before, so she had told him what kind of wedding she wanted and what look. He did a great job at listening. Although she didn’t get to go grow shopoing with her mother and best friend, we don’t feel like we don’t feel bad. She found her perfect dress the first day she went dress shopoing. Amanda knew she wanted to marry Ryan, & so she planned ahead just waiting for him to pop the question. She got her bridal shower after the wedding, but it was still a great night. Things may have happen backwards in this marriage but it’s a perfect story for them.

Escort cards are extremely easy to personalize and an excellent way to bring in your wedding day colors -- from calligraphed seating cards set atop a textured linen to apples tagged with each guest's name or small personalized bundles of lavender tied off with string. Other ways to display escort cards: Pin them to a clothesline, post them on a board covered in color-coordinated ribbon, or incorporate them into your cocktail hour using personalized stirrers tagged with guests' names.
