(Intentionally!) Awkward Engagement Photos

By now you’ve probably seen tons of awkward family photos gone viral, and we’ve even rounded up our favorite wedding versions — from bridesmaid photos in a bathtub to horse photo bombs. But this is the first we’ve heard of couples taking awkward engagement photos on purpose! A couple put together all of the elements of a truly awkward photo with era throwbacks like 80s-style sweater vests, crimped hair and a cat to create engagement photos with a sense of humor for their wedding in June 2014. Escort cards are extremely easy to personalize and an excellent way to bring in your wedding day colors -- from calligraphed seating cards set atop a textured linen to apples tagged with each guest's name or small personalized bundles of lavender tied off with string. Other ways to display escort cards: Pin them to a clothesline, post them on a board covered in color-coordinated ribbon, or incorporate them into your cocktail hour using personalized stirrers tagged with guests' names.
