7 Ways To Make Your Cocktail Hour More Fun

Instead of asking yourselves how to keep the kids occupied during the cocktail hour or reception, think about your entire guest list. We are having about 12 children ranging from 1-13 at my wedding. My Grandfather was a armature magician and to honor him we will have one performing at our cocktail hour. (This is not going to be the goofy, balloon animal wielding variety…no top hats or capes either!). I have asked a professional magician to do what I call ‘bar magic’, card tricks, slight of hand…that sort of thing. I think it will be fun for everyone, and only a few people have thought I was truly nuts!

Escort cards are extremely easy to personalize and an excellent way to bring in your wedding day colors -- from calligraphed seating cards set atop a textured linen to apples tagged with each guest's name or small personalized bundles of lavender tied off with string. Other ways to display escort cards: Pin them to a clothesline, post them on a board covered in color-coordinated ribbon, or incorporate them into your cocktail hour using personalized stirrers tagged with guests' names.
