A Southern Wedding at Empire State South from Our Labor of Love

Sarah and Kevin’s wedding has all the trappings of Southern charm with a dash of vintage elegance (like antique couches for ceremony seating) thrown in. It was the perfect foodie wedding since it was held at and catered by Empire State South, which is owned by Top Chef judge Hugh Acheson. Besides the romantic color palette and lush pink flowers, my favorite part of Sarah and Kevin’s day was that the couple personalized their ceremony with their own take on a tried and true wedding tradition: Instead of a traditional unity candle, the newlyweds mixed their favorite cocktail together, an Old Fashion and toasted one another. Crazy cute, right? Of course we wouldn’t expect anything different from a couple who chose Atlanta-based Our Labor of Love photography team

Escort cards are extremely easy to personalize and an excellent way to bring in your wedding day colors -- from calligraphed seating cards set atop a textured linen to apples tagged with each guest's name or small personalized bundles of lavender tied off with string. Other ways to display escort cards: Pin them to a clothesline, post them on a board covered in color-coordinated ribbon, or incorporate them into your cocktail hour using personalized stirrers tagged with guests' names.
