#loveislove Prop 8 Dismissed and DOMA Ruled Unconstitional

Heard the news? The Supreme Court struck down the Federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), in a 5-4 decision ruling that it is unconstitutional. In other words, in the states where same-sex marriage is legal, the federal government has to also recognize and uphold the state laws. It also guarantees same-sex couples the same federal benefits including income taxes and social security benefits.

To add to that — The Supreme Court has decided that California’s Prop 8 has no standing — paving the way for California to legalize same-sex marriage.

A great day for marriage equality!
