An Edgy Wedding at The Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, NY

Patrice and Oliver decided to highlight their different backgrounds by incorporating traditional American and British touches in their wedding — she’s American, he’s British. The table names were plays on words (elevator vs. lift; suspenders vs. braces), they had their country’s flags printed on t-shirts for favors and the food choices included an American meatball bar and British pastries. This combined cultural aesthetic allowed the couple to personalize the Music Hall of Williamsburg, a unique, nontraditional reception venue. See all the photos from Jacob Arthur.

Escort cards are extremely easy to personalize and an excellent way to bring in your wedding day colors -- from calligraphed seating cards set atop a textured linen to apples tagged with each guest's name or small personalized bundles of lavender tied off with string. Other ways to display escort cards: Pin them to a clothesline, post them on a board covered in color-coordinated ribbon, or incorporate them into your cocktail hour using personalized stirrers tagged with guests' names.
