A Bright, Tropical Wedding at The Boca Raton Hotel and Resort
NYC-based couple Stephanie (a tv anchor) and Dave (a stand-up comedian) guest blogged about their relationship for our sister site, The Nest and host their own blog My Almost Married Life, so we were thrilled when they finally tied the knot last month. While I could go on and on about the eye-catching and bright color palette and the tropical vibe of their wedding day, I let these seasoned bloggers narrate their wedding photos from their unique perspective. Read on to find out more on Stephanie and Dave’s wedding planning process, venue choice, flowers and more!
On Their Venue Choice…
Stephanie: “Selecting a venue wasn’t a tough task for us at all. Right away, when Dave popped the question I knew we’d have it at the Boca Raton Hotel and Resort. For me, it was the tropical location, the hotel’s significance to my family (my Mom and Dad honeymooned in Boca, at the resort) and of course, the property’s lush landscaping.”
Dave: “Being that our wedding ceremony was to be a Jewish one, there were only three options for where to get married; New York, LA and Boca Raton. Stephanie and I had met in LA. We live in New York. So we opted for Boca, that’s how I saw it.”
On the reception decor..
Stephanie: “Brett took my modern style and tied it into the table settings. I selected aqua charger plates and a papaya linen. I wanted the centerpieces to be low, loose and airy. He used a wide range of flowers from roses to peonies to hydrangeas.”
Dave: “We had flowers?”
On the wedding colors and style…
Stephanie: “My goal was to accent that using bright, bold and beautiful flower arrangements. Once my planner Brett Woods, of Boca By Design, and I met and he took one look at my bright orange pants, he knew my style. I selected tangerine, hot pink and red for my color palette with turquoise accents.”
Dave: “I left the table color scheme up to Steph and didn’t know anything until I laid eyes upon it on our wedding day. Apparently, she went with the West Indies Pride Parade motif. But if over-the-top aqua, orange and pink can be pulled off, it can only be done around a pool, surrounded by the lush tropical landscaping and perfect weather that we were blessed with.”
On planning and pulling it all off…
Stephanie: “All in all the day turned out to be perfect. I hand selected just about every vendor. My top prioriety for the day was to have fun and stay relaxed. And I was. Because I trusted everyone around me. I flew in my uber-talented makeup artist from New York, Diane Pottinger. Not only did she make me look like a princess, she made me laugh the entire day and reminded me to enjoy every moment.”
Dave: “I had few requests during the planning process, but one thing I wanted to avoid was a lengthy, cheesy staged photo session. I wanted someone to capture moments. I have nothing funny or sarcastic to say about our photographer Chip Litherland of Eleven Weddings because the man is quite simply an amazingly gifted artist. He worked! He was jumping over hedges and diving on the ground through out the party. He specializes in sports photography which my not seem like a logical match for a wedding but we’ll let our results speak for themselves.”
