#FashionFriday: Wedding Gowns with Capes

If you think about it, being a bride is sort of like being a superhero. You have to juggle two identities (daytime normal human being and nighttime overworked bride trying to figure out where to seat your random friend from summer camp) and you can all of a sudden perform super human feats like hot glue together 200 bows on your favor boxes all in one night. So it goes without saying that you might as well be wearing a superhero cape, which might just be the inspiration behind our favorite wedding fashion trend this week. It will make you feel completely empowered and look absolutely stunning.

Pronovias Wedding Gown with Cape

Fiercely Feminine

Ok, this sheer cape with delicate lace appliqués might be more feminine than fierce but once the wind picks up you’ll feel like you’re invincible.

Antonio-Berard Wedding Gown with Cape

Wonder Lace

Elizabeth Fillmore Wedding Gown with Cape

League of Luxe Capes

A slinky silk cape gives this style an ultra luxe look. The heavier fabric makes it a great choice for winter weddings.

Cymbeline Wedding Gown with Cape

Capelet Crusader

If you love the idea of a cape but think a full-length one is too dramatic, there is always the capelet. It offers just the right amount of coverage and cape-like appeal but stops right around your elbows.

Escort cards are extremely easy to personalize and an excellent way to bring in your wedding day colors -- from calligraphed seating cards set atop a textured linen to apples tagged with each guest's name or small personalized bundles of lavender tied off with string. Other ways to display escort cards: Pin them to a clothesline, post them on a board covered in color-coordinated ribbon, or incorporate them into your cocktail hour using personalized stirrers tagged with guests' names.
