Inspiration of the Day: A Monogrammed Burlap Backdrop

A Monogrammed Burlap Backdrop Photo: Yithak Dalal

Weddings bring out the softer side of burlap as it’s becoming an increasingly popular element to add texture and contrast to chic event designs. “The burlap paired with the gingham pillows made a big ‘bang’ for this cute hoedown!” says Mindy, founder of Mindy Weiss Party Consultants. Mindy and her team hung sheets of burlap to create a backdrop for the lounge space, and painted the fabric with the couple’s monogram to tie together the country western style.

Backdrops are the perfect way to easily transform your reception space; a big and bold custom party backdrop featuring a panel of fabric that matches your wedding style or even a faux wall filled with candles can provide your reception with a fun focal point. Bonus: One of these can double as a background for your photo booth!

Escort cards are extremely easy to personalize and an excellent way to bring in your wedding day colors -- from calligraphed seating cards set atop a textured linen to apples tagged with each guest's name or small personalized bundles of lavender tied off with string. Other ways to display escort cards: Pin them to a clothesline, post them on a board covered in color-coordinated ribbon, or incorporate them into your cocktail hour using personalized stirrers tagged with guests' names.
