Would You Pay Over $24,000 to Marry at Downton Abbey?

Stunning Wedding Photos Photo: Ryan-Browne.co.uk

When Highclere Castle in Newbury, UK isn’t being used as the set for the secrets and intrigue of the Grantham household in Downton Abbey, the historic estate is open to the public and available for wedding venue rentals. It’s a no brainer for the Downton Abbey obsessed or if you’d love to host a high-style Edwardian era English affair, but you’ll have to pay a pretty penny. Inside, the castle can seat 140, but it’s also possible to host a tented event on the historic estate’s gorgeous grounds. Now that you’ve picked the venue all you have to do is convince the Dowager Countess (aka Dame Maggie Smith) to make an appearance!

Escort cards are extremely easy to personalize and an excellent way to bring in your wedding day colors -- from calligraphed seating cards set atop a textured linen to apples tagged with each guest's name or small personalized bundles of lavender tied off with string. Other ways to display escort cards: Pin them to a clothesline, post them on a board covered in color-coordinated ribbon, or incorporate them into your cocktail hour using personalized stirrers tagged with guests' names.
