Your parents have a right to choose where to spend their money. It is YOUR wedding, but its THEIR money. Have a sit down with them explaining your frustration and your wishes and how important it is to you. If they have envisioned you getting married elsewhere and cannot see otherwise, time to start saving your money so you can pay to go elsewhere. If you don’t want to pay for things, then take a deep breath and try to compromise with them. You are very lucky that your parents have offered to pay for everything. Escort cards are extremely easy to personalize and an excellent way to bring in your wedding day colors -- from calligraphed seating cards set atop a textured linen to apples tagged with each guest's name or small personalized bundles of lavender tied off with string. Other ways to display escort cards: Pin them to a clothesline, post them on a board covered in color-coordinated ribbon, or incorporate them into your cocktail hour using personalized stirrers tagged with guests' names.
