Today Is Queen Elizabeth’s 65th Wedding Anniversary!

Today marks 65 years of marriage for Queen Elizabeth II and Philip Mountbatten. This is the first time a British monarch has hit the 65-year-anniversary milestone! The two wed in 1947 at Westminster Abbey and, of course, following the ceremony the pair headed to Buckingham Palace to wave before the crowds. 2,000 guests attended the ceremony — similar in size to the guest list for Will and Kate’s 2011 nuptials. Here, a look at the couple today and on their wedding day.

Let’s hope the Queen takes a break from her royal duties to celebrate!
