Planning A Wedding In the Wake of Hurricane Sandy? What You Need To Know

Sometimes no matter how much you plan, the unexpected may thwart your wedding plans. Take for example the historically massive and destructive hurricane Sandy, which hit the East Coast from Virginia to Connecticut on Monday and Tuesday. If Sandy (a.k.a Frankenstorm 2012) threw a wrench in your wedding plans, we’ve got you covered.
Get it all here — from what to do if your venue has been affected to how to spread the weather-related wedding news to family and friends.
> Hurricane Sandy Wedding Facebook Group
We want to connect vendors and brides planning November 2012 weddings who may be affected by the storm so we’ve asked wedding venues and vendors to post their availability over the next several weeks. That way, if you’re in a pinch and need to replace a venue or vendor, you may be able to find it right there.
This is an easy one. If you’re looking for up-to-the-second coverage and news on hurricane weddings, check Twitter. We’ll be tweeting any hurricane wedding-related updates!

Just married! 11.3.2012 in Middlesex county NJ at the Cranbury Inn. Our venue did not have power and was run by a generator. Almost all of our vendors worked by candle light in their own homes without power. Our DJ did not have power in his own home, and our favor person lost her house. My dress and my mothers dress were not able to get final alterations since the dress shop did not have power. One of my bridesmaids had to wear a dress from her closet since her tailor did not have power and we could not get in touch with them. My parents, who arranged to have guests and pre-wedding preparations in their home have not had power since Sunday.
We are so thankful and lucky. This week has been a time filled with stress but more than that, hope. The residents of NJ and NY who worked together to make our wedding possible we cannot thank enough.
I spent this morning in bed with my husband watching the news. We saw brides getting married on Staten Island and one bride who had to travel over a thousand miles on a bus to make her wedding happen. These brides deserve all the happiness in the world. Best wishes to Sandy Brides!! True love weathers any storm.
